Mitch Nur has been involved with eastern cultures for nearly 40 years in the specific areas of spiritual discipline, sacred
sound practices and healing techniques. He currently lectures and teaches various types ofworkshops throughout the USA on
the many diverse world traditions involving sacred sound instruments; including the human voice, World Shamanic practices,
Buddhist, and Bön traditions. Lama Khemsar Rinpoche is his Bön root teacher and he has studied with the 33rd Menri Trizin,
Geshe Chongtul Rinpoche and Geshe Tenzin Dargye; he is a student of the eastern Tibetan Nyingma Master Lama Rinpoche. Mitch
is the Spiritual Director of Studio 116, Senior Teacher of the 9ways Academia, and Founding Director of the Harmonic Therapy
Association.
Regarded as an insider by Nepalese and Tibetan academics, his knowledge of Himalayan Singing Bowls and their culture is
unique among westerners. He also instructs on the use and applications of Ghantas (Tibetan Ritual Bells), Tingshas (ritual
hand cymbals), and is currently responsible for the reintroduction of the Shang, the ritual upturned flat bell of ZhangZhung;
used by Spirit Mediums, shamans, and the Bönpo. His lectures and demonstrations feature a extensive blend of history, science,
and culture; with a hands on approach enabling students to not only fully grasp a subject, but to go beyond the academic to
genuinely experiencing the discipline. The primary focus of his work is to provide all students the means by which to use
sacred sound instruments to heal and strengthen their own physical and mental state. In turn, enabling them to heal others.
What primarily separates him from other instructors in this field, is that he has actually lived and studied in the Himalayas.
He is a student and teacher of these eastern traditions, and is a practitioner who incorporates the teachings into his daily
life. Many of todays healing practitioners who utilize sacred sound instruments in their endeavors have sought out Mitch for
instruction and guidance. He has worked with various recording artists who produce meditational and healing sound music as
well as producing his own recordings. He is sought out to acquire genuine instruments, as well as how to play and apply them.
Additionally, he has studied with Tuvan, Nepalese, Native American, Toltec, and Peruvian shamans. This rich mix of traditional,
compassionate, enlightened Teachers from the east combined with the indigenous Shaman of the world has given him a perception

Throughout the 1990's and into the 2000's, he hosted the annual Sacred Sound Retreat which brought together spiritual
teachers and shaman from all over the world to teach Traditional Ways to students. This annual gathering featured classes
with Himalayan sound tools, harmonic overtone singing, mantras and chanting, Peruvian Shamanic Whistling Vessels, Gongs of
the world, didjeridoo, drumming and drum journeys, and over 25 other instruments from the worlds indigenous cultures. Sacred
rituals, discipline, and ceremony were observed and practiced during these retreats. These retreats became life changing events
for many students, who now have found their own direction and compassion to move forward and make a difference in their own
lives and with others.
Mitch is a sought out speaker at conferences and symposiums on sacred sound and vibrational healing. He has written various
articles on sacred sound for magazines, appeared on numerous radio programs, and was the focus of an issue of BARAKA the European
health and spirituality magazine. Mitch is also featured in the book Secret History of Music by Vlastimil Marek published
by Eminent Books. Currently, he is writing a series of books on Sacred Sound, Harmonic Therapy, and Shamanic practices and
methods.
